United Religions Initiative (URI)
URI is a global grassroots interfaith network that cultivates peace and justice by engaging people to bridge religious and cultural differences and work together for the good of their communities and the world. URI has a global presence in 122 countries.
In the past years, KAICIID has been collaborating closely with URI, namely in the framework of the African Union’s Interfaith Dialogue Forum. Collaboration with other regions included the organization of several thematic webinars, namely: COVID-19 and Religion: #ReligionsRespond (April 2020) with URI-Asia and Environment and Protecting the Planet: Sustainability and Contribution of Intercultural Dialogue with URI Latin America and the Caribbean (November 2020).
The signing of an MoU in 2025 aims to strengthen cooperation between KAICIID and URI, including global, regional and grassroots level. Collaboration between KAICIID Fellows and URI’s Cooperation Circles as well as joint capacity building initiatives are two of the areas identified for further collaboration in the coming years.
