Vilma Rosaura Palax Tuy
Vilma Rosaura Palax Tuy has a degree in Legal and Social Sciences, Law and Notary. She is the founder of Descendientes de Guatemaya and vice president of the Technical Association for the Integral Development of Descendientes de Guatemaya. Her focus is on issues surrounding peace – the environment, rights of indigenous peoples, preservation of Mayan culture and youth entrepreneurship. Work experience includes: an intern in the Criminal Court of First Instance of the Judiciary of Guatemala; facilitator in United Religions Initiative; lecturer at: the International Accelerate Peace Interfaith Action in Global Peacebuilding at Stanford University; Together for Peace: Respect, Security, and Dignity for All held in the Plurinational State of Bolivia; Awakening the Conscience of Leadership for Peace in Latin America; Plurinational Meeting on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, at the Kaqchikel Mayan University and Universitary Centre of Sololá; and II Meeting of Indigenous Art, Culture and Design of the Americas and III Meeting of Cosmovision and Spirituality and Art on behalf of the Ecyai Festival of Argentina and the Canadian Embassy.
