Vienna, 6 July 2018: The International Dialogue Centre’s Council of Parties and Board of Directors reviewed and discussed KAICIID’s past and upcoming activities and programmes during meetings held at the Centre’s headquarters on 4 July and 5 July 2018, respectively.
The members of the Centre’s two Governing Bodies were briefed on the progress of KAICIID’s programmes in the Arab region, the Central African Republic, Myanmar and Nigeria. Among other topics, they also heard about the recently launched Dialogue Knowledge Hub and the upcoming meeting at the United Nations New York Headquarters to present online tools that can strengthen interreligious dialogue.
The Austrian delegation to the CoP meeting included H.E. Ambassador Dr. Teresa Indjein, Dr. Marcus Bergmann, Dr. Denise Quistorp, and Mag. Catherine Quidenus. Saudi Arabia was represented by H.E. Ambassador Nabil Ashri, Md. Abdullah M. Alrashidan, and Mr. Shalan Binijl. The Spanish delegation included H.E. Ambassador Juan Sunyé Mendía, Ambassador Belén Alfaro Hernández, and Mr. Miguel Alonso Berrio. The Holy See representative was DDr. Michael H. Weninger.
About the KAICIID Board of Directors
The International Dialogue Centre (KAICIID) is an intergovernmental organization mandated to promote dialogue among different religious and cultural groups to promote justice, peace and reconciliation and to counteract the abuse of religion to justify violence. The Centre is governed by a multi-religious Board of Directors, consisting of representatives of five religions - Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, and Judaism. The Board Members are: Dr. Hamad Al-Majed, Dr. Kezevino Aram, His Excellency Bishop Miguel Ayuso, His Eminence Metropolitan Emmanuel, Reverend Kosho Niwano, His Virtue Sheikh ul-Islam A.
