The Recent World Humanitarian Summit was a milestone event, an international response to an unprecedented global humanitarian crisis. It was also significant in the wide-ranging inclusion of religious leaders and faith-based actors who offered best practices and insight to policymakers.

We at KAICIID have always been convinced of the need to involve religious leaders and religious communities in development and humanitarian work, and find daily examples to bear out this conviction in our work in conflict zones.

KAICIID Secretary General Faisal Bin Muaammar explained why bridge-building between religious communities and the humanitarian community is so essential, in an Op-Ed in the Huffington Post.

"When religious leaders and communities are brought together in collaboration through interreligious dialogue, they can strengthen humanitarian relief where it is needed most. Interreligious dialogue gives secular and religious humanitarians a powerful tool to address the world’s great humanitarian challenges."
