Dialogue is an essential tool in sustainable development, as it helps to build trust and address the needs of those who are vulnerable. Through dialogue, aid workers, development professionals and social workers can engage with people in need by building a safe space and open channels where they can communicate their needs. This can be especially important for refugees, victims of sexual violence, people who have experienced trauma or have complex needs. In many regions of the world, young people are overwhelmingly the victims or the perpetrators of violence, but they are also often the most active responders working on the front lines. In South East Asia, where many cultures and religions meet, cultural differences often lead to frictions, and sometimes to violence. In collaboration with the World Organization of the Scout movement, we are training young changemakers through our Dialogue for Peace programme. Learn more about some of their stories below.
