The University for Peace (UPEACE)

The University for Peace (UPEACE) is an institution of higher education dedicated to the study of peace which was established by the United Nations General Assembly pursuant to its Resolution 35/55 of December 1980 to "provide humanity with an international institution of higher education for peace and with the aim of promoting among all human beings the spirit of understanding, tolerance and peaceful coexistence, to stimulate cooperation among people and to help lessen the threats to world peace”.

UPEACE and KAICIID have collaborated since 2019, including through the development of the online course “Engaging Faith Actors to Support Implementation of Sustainable Development Goals” (together with UNEP, LWF, NMCL and ISCREB).

In 2020, the first MoU was formalized and in 2025 a new cooperation framework was signed to strengthen joint initiatives in academic research and capacity building programmes.

At the end of 2025, KAICIID and UPEACE collaborated with other regional partners on the organization of the Latin America and Caribbean Conference on Fostering Cultures of Peace through Interreligious Dialogue and Education.
