About
World Youth Day Lisbon 2023 will be a renowned international gathering of young people that fosters unity, faith, and cultural exchange. With the event taking place from 1 to 6 August throughout Lisbon, KAICIID will be hosting several Dialogue Encounters. Part of the Youth Festival strand, with four activities running to promote dialogue among all, there will be: a panel discussion with leaders from five different religions, the launch of the Dialogo board game in Portugal and the screening of our latest documentary, all culminating in an audience with His Holiness Pope Francis.
Why
Pope Francis states in his message to young people ahead of World Youth Day that “now is the time to set out in haste towards concrete encounters, towards genuine acceptance of those different from ourselves.” It is this spirit that connects directly with KAICIID's interreligious and intercultural mission. As an intergovernmental organization based in Lisbon, KAICIID is well placed to facilitate these Dialogue Encounters, between different faiths, nationalities, and generations in order to help bring about the 'genuine acceptance' that His Holiness speaks of.
