Senior Adviser

Andrea Pfanzelter has worked in international affairs and conflict resolution for the last twenty-five years. She is currently Senior Adviser to the KAICIID International Dialogue Centre, an organization focusing on interreligious dialogue to resolve conflict, with its headquarters in Vienna. Since 2017, her major areas of responsibility are stakeholder relations and resource mobilisation. In addition she is a Board Member of the Ban Ki-moon Center for Global Citizens.

Andrea’s previous roles in other globally operating organizations have most notably included the position of Senior Director of the International Peace Institute (IPI). In June 2010, she was responsible for opening the Vienna office of the Institute, which she directed for 6 years. In addition, she spent two years as IPI’s Senior Director of Resource Development, where she was responsible for developing new fundraising activities and cooperation initiatives for both the Vienna and New York offices. She also acted as a senior consultant to IPI to establish initial support and legal foundation for the establishment of KAICIID in Vienna. 

Based in New York from 1999 to 2008, Andrea held various board and director positions. She served as the President of the United Nations Delegates Association (UNDA) and the Vice President of the Women’s International Forum (WIF). In addition, she held board positions at the Off-the-Record Lecture Series (OTR) of the Foreign Policy Association, Network 20/20, and the United Women of All Nations (UWAN).

From 1993 to 1999 Andrea was a consultant to HILL International based in Vienna. In the period 1989 to 1993 she lived in Damascus, Syria and from 1984 to 1989 in Dakar, Senegal. She is married to Gerhard Pfanzelter, former Permanent Representative of Austria to the United Nations.
