Rif'at S. Fachir
Rif'at Syauqi Rahman Fachir, commonly known as Ifa, was born on 21 October 1983 in Jakarta, Indonesia. He has been serving as a Communications Officer at the ASEAN Institute for Peace and Reconciliation (ASEAN-IPR) since February 2018.
Mr. Fachir earned both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in International Relations from the University of Indonesia's Faculty of Social and Political Sciences. His international education began early, with primary schooling in Baghdad (Iraq), New York (USA), and Indonesia, providing him with a broad cultural perspective.
Before his current role at ASEAN-IPR, Mr. Fachir worked at the ASEAN Secretariat within the Division that supports the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR) and the Entities Associated with ASEAN. He also served in the Office of the Representative of Indonesia to the AICHR as an Associate Project Officer.
In addition to his professional endeavours, Mr. Fachir is a part-time musician in Indonesia, contributing as a composer, songwriter, and producer. He was the Programme Coordinator for the 2016 Jakarta International Java Jazz Festival. Fluent in English and Bahasa Indonesia, he also possesses a fair understanding of French.
