Wiwin Rohmawati is Vice Director of Institute of Southeast Asian Islam (ISAIs) Sunan Kalijaga State Islamic University and a Board Member of the Forum for Inter-religious Harmony in Yogyakarta. At ISAIs, she works to develop the research, to study and to promote the tolerant and moderate Islam in Southeast Asia. She has been working in the field of interreligious dialogue for over 15 years. At Interfidei, a pioneer of interfaith dialogue in Indonesia, she works as a researcher, trainer, editor, program officer, executive secretary and senior staff member. She also teaches multicultural education at Darussalam Islamic College in the town of Ciamis. She has also assisted with several programs organized by the Dialogue Institute at Temple University, USA (2010-2011). In 1999, as an undergraduate student and part of the Indonesian delegation, she attended the 7th World Assembly of the World Conference on Religion and Peace (WCRP) in Amman, Jordan. She finished her MA in interreligious relations at Sunan Kalijaga State Islamic University. In 2015, as part of her initiative of KAICIID International Fellows Program (KIFP), she founded the interreligious women’s community called Srikandi Lintas Iman. In 2015 she was also appointed as a consultant for KAICIID’s MCC (Multi-religious Collaboration for the Common Good) project in Indonesia. In 2018, she was accepted as one of the awardees of the Australia Awards Indonesia (AAI) Short Term Awards on Multi-faith Women Leadership Program. Her project awards entitled “Intra-Muslim Dialogue among Women in Yogyakarta”, has been implemented at the end of 2018. In July 2019 she was selected to participate in the Professional Fellows on Demand, Religious Freedom and Interfaith Dialogue Exchange Program in America, by U.S. Department of State and organized by World Learning.
Currently, she is a PhD student in interfaith study at the Graduate School of Sunan Kalijaga State Islamic University. Her dissertation project is “The Role of Interfaith Women in Developing Post-Conflict Peacebuilding Effort in Indonesia”. Her main interest is women, interfaith dialogue and peacebuilding. Her motto is “work hard, think smart and sincere heart”.
