Kaltumi Abdulazeez
Founder, Ladies Empowerment Goals and Support Initiatives (LEGASI), Nigeria
Kaltumi is the founder of Ladies Empowerment Goals and Support Initiatives (LEGASI), a non-profit, women-led organization based and registered in Nigeria. She currently serves as Nigeria's Country Director for Global Peace Chain, an international peace building organization, which aims to raise global youth peace ambassadors. Kaltumi is a trained facilitator with the United States Institute of Peace (USIP), in that capacity, she has organized and facilitated dialogue in conflict-affected areas in Kaduna state, Nigeria.
She worked at the Interfaith Mediation Centre (IMC), where she was responsible for the implementation of the USAID-funded project "Community Initiatives to Promote Peace (CIPP)". Through this work Kaltumi facilitated trainings on conflict management and mitigation, using interfaith model and approach to dialogue in conflict affected areas in the North-West and North-Central Nigeria. Kaltumi has engaged with several international organizations at different levels. She was a Youth Compact Champion for ActionAid International, a member of the World Youth Forum - Arab and Africa Youth Platform, an alumnae of the African Presidential Leadership Program (APLP), and an alumnae of West African Women in Peace Building, a programme by Rotary International in partnership with Mediators Beyond Boarders International (MBBI).
Kaltumi brings a mix of gender-responsive and peace building approach to her work. She has a huge passion to improve the livelihood of women at the grass-root level where access to basic amenities is limited.
