Sohini is a young development and conflict resolution/peacebuilding professional with 8 years of experience in the field of religion and peacebuilding.

She is a KAICIID Fellows Programme alum, and an alum of the Global Exchange on Religion in Society Programme funded by the European Union.

Sohini’s work over the years has taken her to build community and support marginalised groups across India, ranging from rural women from the tribal belt of West Bengal (along West Bengal’s borders with Jharkhand), communities in the North-East of India( Assam, Meghalaya), and communities in Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh.

Free-spirited and quite the catalyst for new conversations on social change and impact, Sohini identifies as a facilitator of communities and a hustler, having developed projects for different organisations, and leading her independent initiatives for causes that she feels strongly about.

A passionate advocate for minority rights, women’s rights, LGBTQ+ rights and overall social inclusion and social cohesion, Sohini is a lover of stories that bring more compassion and thoughtfulness to the field of development and peacebuilding. Sohini has been an active participant and stakeholder on many international platforms including World Bank Fragility Forum, Global Summit for Women, round-tables and policy groups for G20 interfaith forum, etc., and contributed as a resource person to train stakeholders for United States Institute of Peace’s online courses on Religion, Peacebuilding and Human Rights as well as for educational initiatives hosted by Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti, Ministry of Culture, Government of India with different universities across India as a freelance resource-person.

When not working, Sohini enjoys writing, painting, and going on long walks or volunteering to mentor other young professionals like herself.
