Dr. Narahang Tamang
Dr. Narahang Tamang (Bhikkhu Chandrakriti), from Nepal, was ordained as a Buddhist Monk in 1990 in Shree Kriti Vihar, Kathmandu, Nepal. After finishing lower secondary school in his village, Bhojpur, he went to Thailand where he completed Grade 12 in 1996. He pursued Nam Dhamma Eak (NDA) from the same school and received his higher ordination in 1997 from the Royal Monastery of Bangkok. Bhikkhu Chandra Kriti, with master’s degree in Buddhism and Philosophy, completed his PhD in 2008 from Banaras Hindu University, in India. He is the President of Shree Kriti Bouddha Kendra in Nepal and a founding member of Interreligious Council, Nepal, as well as the International Buddhist Centre Nepal (IBCN). He is the former Executive Member of the Human Right and Peace Society and the All Nepal Bhikkhu Association. He speaks eight languages – Nepali, Thai, Lao, Hindi, Pali, Sanskrit, English and Chinese – and is actively working to promote peace and interfaith/interreligious harmony in Nepal and beyond.
