Welcome to the first issue of the new KAICIID newsletter, where each edition will focus on a single topic that relates to the work we are doing at the International Dialogue Centre.
This inaugural issue’s topic is KAICIID’s Peace Mapping Programme, which was launched at the International Peace Institute (IPI) and the Interfaith Center of New York on the 21st of September.
The Peace Map is one of KAICIID’s flagship initiatives: our researchers have gathered and analyzed information about the hundreds of international organizations dedicated to peace-building, conflict resolution and interreligious dialogue around the world. Presented on an interactive, searchable, online platform, we expect the PMP to become an invaluable resource for students, researchers, policymakers and experts.
In this issue, we have brought together a collection of material to introduce you to the KAICIID’s Peace Map – explaining its genesis and development, giving an outline of its potential and showing some of the ways it can be put to use by dialogue practitioners around the world.
KAICIID’s Director of Research, Dr. Patrice Brodeur, discusses the development of the PMP, its aims and plans for future activity.
Walter Kemp, the Director for Europe and Central Asia at IPI, one of KAICIID’s collaborators on the project, offers his thoughts on the PMP and its potential for peace-building, conflict resolution and interreligious dialogue.
Finally, we are also pleased to present the first four videos in the "Dialogue Voices" series that will be presented on the PMP website, where interreligious dialogue practitioners explain their work. In these videos, Blu Greenberg, Founding President of the United States Jewish Orthodox Feminist Alliance, Maureen Sier, Director of Interfaith Scotland, Amal Almoallim, Head of the King Abdulaziz Centre for National Dialogue’s Female Branch, and Nageeba Hassan, a member of Uganda’s Inter-Religious Council, all share their views on the PMP project and its value in the field of interreligious dialogue.
Of course, each issue of the newsletter will also include information about upcoming events, as well as other important updates from the Centre.
Please enjoy!
