Dr. Amal Emam is the Regional Youth and Volunteers Coordinator for the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent (IFRC) in the MENA Region. She is also the Egyptian Red Crescent's National Manager of Youth and Volunteers, overseeing over 30000 youth and volunteers across the country.
She has over 20 years of experience in volunteer management, youth engagement, humanitarian and values-based education, women empowerment, social inclusion, gender, and diversity.
Amal contributed to the development of the IFRC's flagship programme “Youth as Agents of Behavioural Change” (YABC), which helps people all over the world in promoting a culture of non-violence and peace in their communities. She is also a certified trainer for the programme, having trained hundreds of youth peer educators in Africa, Asia, and Europe.
Amal, has led various initiatives to engage youth from various backgrounds in intercultural and intergenerational dialogue, and she was a country leader of the Hostelling International Youth Program (I.O.U Respect), which is an intensive cultural exchange programme between six Arab and European countries, designed to increase the youth knowledge of other cultures, help them to understand other cultures, and help them in developing intercultural communication skills, foster attitudes that promote mutual understanding, and establish long-term relationships based on respect.
