The first lecture of KAICIID's public lecture series on dialogue took place on 21 January and was titled “Light for God’s Houses”. The lecture was provided by the traditional and famous Viennese chandelier manufacturer and a strong advocate for dialogue, Peter Rath. He is also the Vice President of the European Society and Documentation Centre for Chandeliers, Light and Lighting. His family, Lobmeyr, has been producing chandeliers for different purposes and special locations for five generations. In 1987, Mr Rath worked with an Egyptian artisan and manufactured new chandeliers for the Al-Masjid al-Nabawī, the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina. During his lecture, Mr Rath shared and discussed his vast knowledge and decades-long professional experience with a selected group of stakeholders from the Viennese cultural scene.
