The International Dialogue Centre – KAICIID joins the international community in mourning the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis, an extraordinary global actor whose unwavering commitment to peace, interreligious dialogue, and human fraternity profoundly shaped the moral and spiritual landscape of our time.
Since the Centre’s founding in 2012 — born from the visionary initiative of the late King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI—Pope Francis played a pivotal role in sustaining and advancing this legacy. Through his continued support and encouragement, he reinforced the Centre’s mission, offering his blessing and opening vital doors that enabled KAICIID to expand its work across regions and communities in need of dialogue and reconciliation.
As KAICIID’s founding observer, the Holy See has been instrumental in shaping the Centre’s journey. Throughout his papacy, Pope Francis consistently advocated dialogue as a powerful path to mutual understanding and peaceful coexistence. His leadership elevated the call for faith communities to unite in service of the common good, most notably through his historic efforts to build bridges between religions, including the signing of the Document on Human Fraternity in Abu Dhabi in 2019.
Pope Francis’ teachings—particularly in his landmark encyclical Fratelli Tutti — continue to serve as a guiding light for those striving to promote unity, dignity, and solidarity among all people. His tireless advocacy for the marginalized and his courageous vision for a more compassionate world resonates deeply with KAICIID’s own values and mission.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Catholic Church, the Holy See, and to all those across the globe who were touched by His Holiness’ humility, wisdom, and enduring legacy.
As we reflect on his remarkable life, KAICIID reaffirms its steadfast commitment to the principles that Pope Francis so passionately embodied. May his legacy continue to inspire efforts toward dialogue, justice, and a more united and peaceful world.
