Prior to the opening of the World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue in Baku Azerbaijan on 4 May 2017, KAICIID Secretary General Faisal Bin Muaammar met Minister Abulfas Garayev Mursal Oglu of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Secretary General Bin Muaammar outlined the mission and work of the International Dialogue Centre (KAICIID) and commended Azerbaijan for its commitment and support in promoting intercultural and interreligious dialogue, noting that the World Forum on Dialogue is one of the largest gatherings promoting and fostering intercultural and interreligious understanding.
Minister Garayev described the Baku Process, which was initiated to promote intercultural dialogue in 2008. Four World Forums have been organized since the Baku Process began. The fourth World Forum is to commence on 5 May 2017 to “advance intercultural dialogue and explore new avenues for human security, peace and sustainable development.”
The 2017 World Forum includes the first High Level Meeting of the Heads of International Organizations at which the Secretary General will participate in a panel in dialogue on “sharing responsibilities for human security: building sustainable and inclusive societies.”
The Minister and the Secretary General agreed in their meeting that further cooperation in pursuit of the common goal to advance the use of intercultural and interreligious dialogue especially by international organizations.
